In keeping with the theme of resurrecting archival material pertaining to the restoration of Beaverdams Church, this recently emerged: an agreement between the church trustees and various neighbours to commit funds for its upkeep.
We read that the trustees desired “to keep the church and grave yard in a fair state of repair”. This was only possible through “voluntary subscriptions”.
Like today, their intention was modest: the re-shingling of the roof and building a new fence.
And as it was more than 90 years ago, so too it is today: volunteer support is the only way to ensure this magnificent historic gem will be restored.
